Make Up Gift Sets
Make up gift sets are popular presents for girls. The kits don’t contain harmful chemicals, and can be washed off easily as they’re water-based. Most kits are made from hypo-allergenic formulations, so there is no fear of allergic reactions when a girl attempts to look like her favourite pop star.
One on hand, kids make up sets can be considered a primer for the grown up world of actual make up. Proponents of the products say that nothing boosts self-esteem like the image of a pretty girl looking back out from the mirror. However, there is a growing number of parents and educators who feel that such make up gift sets are becoming more prevalent as a sign of a society that is encouraging kids, young girls in particular, to grow up far too quickly.
An unhealthy obsession with make up is just one of the signs a young girl may feel pressured to look and act older than her age. Many children, i.e. those aged 12 years and below, already report feeling unhappy and pressured to “look perfect” and own the latest designer garb. Even worse, a lot of children feel unhappy about their current appearance when comparing themselves to celebrities.
Part of the blame has been laid at the feet of capitalism, where merchandisers and retailers compete for the attention of a young demographic that is very well aware of the lengths to which their parents would go to ensure their happiness. Others point the finger at youngsters wanting to emulate celebrities, and kids make up kits eventually become insufficient to this aim.
Whatever the reason, pleas from parents to let kids “just be kids” has grown louder, and the concern is well-placed. It might be all fun and games and cuteness when a child pretends to be a grown up, but it’s a different matter altogether when a 9-year-old decides he or she is an adult. One of the most obvious manifestations of this skewed perception of self is when sexual activity takes place at an inappropriate age. Mental problems may also arise as a result of misguided ideals.
Kids should never feel in a hurry to grow up. Childhood only lasts a few years, and for some people, actual adulthood lasts for far too long. So here at Tantrum, will always focus on kids remaining kids! That’s why all our make up products and hair accessories are aimed at frivolous fun only.
